Day 20 - President Obama

Day 20 - President Obama

I was filled with emotion as I watched the inauguration activities on television today. I truly believe Barack Obama will be a great president and I'm excited that he is striving to unite our nation. I was sad while watching the ceremonies, missing my mom, who would have been a huge Obama supporter. I was also sad that I wasn't in a classroom with students as history was being made today.

  1. you captured the TV so well... I have tried it and not been able to get as good a pic. I agree. My dad has been gone for 20 years but I know that he would have been SOOOO excited today. I also did not have students to share this with... but I got the opportunity to blog live with a 4th grade class and it was great. Next time, try to find someone in our PLN to "hook up with" I highly reccomend it!

  2. You did get a great photo! Your reflection reminds me that most times there's a little sadness with joy - bittersweet...but the optimism is the best route!

  3. Karin, I too had such similar feelings. I miss my mother greatly and am not sure if she supported Obama but she would have loved watching the inauguration events. It felt odd and different not to be in a classroom and ideas to commemorate the event kept coming to mind all day. It is so hard to get out of 'school mode' after being an educator for the past 20 years.
