In 2009, I was encouraged by my friends to give the 365 photo project a try. I love taking photos, and was excited about participating. The daily posts paint a brief picture of my year and open my eyes to the beauty around me. It is challenging to post a photo daily. I was successful in 2009 and 2010, but fell a few short in 2011. I'll be continuing my quest for daily photos in 2012 and look forward to sharing them here.

Day 27 - Mama's home
I babysit every Thursday and Blake and I have lots of fun together. Cheryl is very happy to see her baby boy when she gets home from work!

Day 26 - Lucy!
A friend lent me this book from her school library. She knows we have a beagle named Lucy. This series is new to me and this Lucy looks very much like our Lucy!

Day 24 - Bears
Our Chicago Bears made it to the playoffs. My husband bought me this jacket to wear. Unfortunately, it didn't bring The Bears any luck and they lost the game that would have sent the to the Super Bowl.

Day 23 - Woodpecker
I'm glad we moved this feeder to just outside the bay window in our kitchen. During the winter, we get a lot of woodpeckers taking a meal here.

Day 22 - Free!
Our local Freecycle group is having a 'free-for-all', so we are taking a trunkful of treasures that will find a new home.

Day 18 - Tornado!
I subbed again in the Foundations classroom today. Now they are studying about weather. Their teacher had another fun project for them. After learning about tornadoes from a video and some books, they got to make their own tornadoes from two liter bottles. They loved this hands-on activity!

Day 17 - Winter 3
Here's another one of my cute snowmen decorations. It plays music and is soft and huggable. I have a feeling it is going to be one of Blake's favorites next winter!

Day 16 - Winter 2
Here's another one of our winter decorations. It stands about 3 feet tall. I love the whimsical snowmen that are painted on the this wooden screen. Scott's Uncle Bruce gave us this as a Christmas gift several years ago.

Day 15 - Winter 1
Although I'm getting very tired of winter, I do like this plaque that decorates our wall during January. It is hand painted and was given to us by a friend many years ago.

Day 14 - Future archaeologist
The Foundations special education class has been studying about ancient Egypt. They loved the project the teacher gave them that involved excavating for ancient treasures!

Day 13 - Cute as can be!

Oh yes, the baby is cute, but look at the outfit. Baby clothes are so adorable and I LOVE Blake's frog outfit, especially the feet!
Of course I did have to take his feet out of his outfit for awhile so he could enjoy his toes!
In the last photo, he's chilling at the kitchen table while I ate my lunch. Shhh, don't tell his mom he had his feet on the table! :-)
Today is my regular Thursday with Blake. We had a wonderful day and this proud Grandma took lots of photos!

Day 12 - Blackhawks!
Scott and I went to a Blackhawks game at United Center tonight. They played a great game and won! Kristin gave Scott the tickets for Christmas, such a generous gift! It was fun seeing the Blackhawks play in person and to see the 2010 Stanley Cup Champs banner hanging from the ceiling. Thanks Kris!

Day 11 - Wii Fit
After a long hiatus, I'm back doing yoga with our Wii. I'm trying to do 20-30 minutes a day of yoga. I always feel better when I do it. I must make it a regular part of my daily routine.

Day 10 - Half staff
I was asked to have lunch at one of our middle schools today for their annual "Mix it up Lunch". The kids are randomly assigned to lunch tables and adults from the community are invited to sit at the tables to facilitate conversation as the kids interact with classmates they don't ordinarily sit with. I spent a wonderful lunch hour sitting with students who were very willing to meet some new classmates.
The flag outside the school was at half staff today to honor the people who were killed and injured in the horrible tragedy in AZ this past weekend.

Day 9 - Alumni Holiday Luncheon Slideshow
District 25 Alumni Holiday Luncheon 2010 - Great attendance and how festive everyone looks!
I used PhotoPeach to make this slideshow. I share the photos with all alumni by posting the slideshow to a blog just for them. They all love seeing the photos, especially the retired teachers who live too far away to attend the luncheon.

Day 8 - Lighted ship
Our Village and Park District do a fabulous job of decorating for the holidays. There is a lovely park in the center of town that gets decorated with wonderful light displays. We almost forgot to stop and enjoy the displays this holiday season. This is one of my favorites!

Day 7 - Friends
These are two of my dearest teacher friends. Dace (on the left) is still teaching and has been teaching for over 40 years. Sue (on the right) retired a few years before I did. They are both incredible ladies and wonderful friends. Sue and I see each other fairly often and we try to get together with Dace for dinner about once a month. We look forward to her joining us more often once she retires!

Day 5 - Book Club
Our Book Club discussed this book tonight. I really enjoyed it. It's one of the the best mysteries I've read in a long time. I'll definitely be reading the other two books in the trilogy.

Day 4 - Lazy
Lucy has her own bed, she also loves to relax at the end of our bed during the day. Oh for a dog's life......... :-)

Day 3 - Electric feet
My father-in-law has been having trouble with the circulation in his feet. He has been in the hospital for several days and had a procedure to open some blood vessels near his right foot. The doctor has him wearing this equipment that sends electric shocks to his feet to stimulate the circulation. We are hopeful that his circulation will improve.

Day 2 - M&M Tree
We attended an open house this afternoon at the beautiful home of friends. They love to decorate for the holidays and had eleven decorated Christmas trees for us to enjoy. Each tree had a theme. It isn't hard to tell what the theme of this tree is!

Day 1 - Happy New Year!
Blake and Cheryl came over for awhile this afternoon. There is nothing better than welcoming the New Year by playing with a grandbaby! It is fun to watch as he learns the cause and effect of toys that make music.
