In 2009, I was encouraged by my friends to give the 365 photo project a try. I love taking photos, and was excited about participating. The daily posts paint a brief picture of my year and open my eyes to the beauty around me. It is challenging to post a photo daily. I was successful in 2009 and 2010, but fell a few short in 2011. I'll be continuing my quest for daily photos in 2012 and look forward to sharing them here.

Day 73 - Bikes
This is the cycling room at our fitness center. It is a popular workout and a really high energy area when there is a class going on. I haven't had the courage to take a spin class yet, although I have been riding the bikes on the fitness floor.

Day 72 - Mothers-to-be
These are the three mothers-to-be that were showered with love today. Katie teaches 2nd, Ali teaches 3rd, and Suzanne teaches 4th. It was so fun seeing their joy & excitement as they get ready for their babies!

Day 71 - Baby gifts
The school I retired from is having a baby shower tomorrow for three mothers-to-be. Today, I'm wrapping the gifts I'll bring. I struck it rich at Babies R Us, thanks to a great sale, the new moms get twice as much!

Day 70 - Bowling
It doesn't take any thinking or math skills to do the scoring in bowling now that it is all computerized. Scoring in bowling may be a lost art. How many of you remember scoring by hand at the bowling alley?
These are my fun bowling partners (they took the photo of themselves)! They also took a picture of me!

Day 69 - CFL Bulbs
We learned an expensive lesson about CFL bulbs today. They do NOT work in fixtures that are on timers or dimmers. We had put these three CFL bulbs in our outside lights that turn on & off automatically via a timer. Two of the 3 fixtures stopped working. When the electrician came out, it cost us $100 for us to learn that you can't use CFLs with timers. We were TRYING to save money on energy.

Day 68 - Spring?
What a difference a day makes! As I was leaving to do errands today, I noticed these sprouts in our garden. These daffodils are an early sign that spring is on its way!
March 8, 2009
Day 67 - Rain!
Today was a very rainy Sunday. We got about 2.5 inches of rain, which is way more than the already saturated ground could take. This photo was taken from inside our house. You see the wet patio at the bottom of the photo and at the top you see a river of water that isn't normally part of our yard.

Day 66 - 29th Birthday
Tonight we celebrated my oldest daughter's 29th birthday. My husband & I took Cheryl & her husband and my husband's parents out to dinner. We had a great dinner and lots of laughs!
Happy Birthday Cheryl!!

Day 65 - Fun
I was subbing in a music classroom today and had lots of fun! I brought my camera with me, but forgot to take a photo. So, tonight I had fun playing with a new website, Fun Photo Box. The photo I imported is me swimming with the dolphins last November. Fun Photo Box has lots of great effects to play with!

Day 64 - Sunset
Sunsets are not easy to capture in the suburban midwest. This one caught my eye this afternoon when I stopped to take a walk late this afternoon. It was about 5:30 p.m., which means our days are getting longer as we approach spring.
March 4, 2009
Day 63 - Book Club
This is the book we discussed at my book club tonight. The story is about a girl's life in Germany from 1915 to 1951. We had a very good discussion. It is not a book I would have chosen to read on my own, but belonging to a book club has encouraged me to branch out in my reading.

Day 62 - Lockers
While I was away from our fitness center on one of my recent trips, they painted motivational sayings on the walls of the locker room. I like this one, it reminds me to set goals and to be deliberate in my actions.

Day 61 - USPS
I included the Post Office in my errands today. I had the important task of mailing a friend's cell phone to her after she inadvertently left it at the hotel where we were attending a tech conference. I wish I could have delivered it in person!
March 1, 2009
Day 60 - Thank you
We lent our box turtle, Rainman, to a teacher at my daughter's school so that they could have a first hand experience with an animal they were studying. Rainman enjoyed his visit, and I love the thank you note signed by all the preschoolers!

Day 59 - Money Pot
Today was spent with family! We had breakfast with Scott's parents at Pheasant Run. Then we headed over to spend the afternoon with our daughter who lives in St. Charles. She and her grandma are recording memories. It was fun to listen to them. Then, at dinner time we headed up to my sister-in-law's house for dinner and 'game night'. We weren't very lucky.....this Cool Whip container was full at the start of the evening! Oh well, spending time with family is better than being rich!

Day 58 - Audience
Today is the final day of the ICE Conference. I presented a break out session entitled "Connecting to the Curriculum with Technology". This is a photo of my audience just before I began my presentation.
February 26, 2009
Day 57 - Jamming
At the ICE Conference, there was a PLN Plaza this year where people could gather to share with their PLN or learn more about the benefits of social networking online with their PLN. In this photo, Chris & Kevin are providing us with some impromptu entertainment. What a fun afternoon!
February 25, 2009
Day 56 - Puppy Love
A group of friends who are all part of my PLN (professional/personal learning network) on Plurk were invited to gather on Wednesday evening after the ICE workshops for face to face fun at @kmulford's house. Near the end of the evening, Kevin got a chance to give Kymberli's dog a big hug!

Day 55 - Mardi Gras
I arrived at Pheasant Run today for the Illinois Computing Educators (ICE) Conference. Plans had been made ahead of time to have dinner with a group of friends. We were surprised to find a Fat Tuesday celebration at the restaurant where we had planned to eat. We had a fun evening!
Can you guess who is behind the feathered mask?

Day 54 - Reflections
These are candles in our guest bathroom. I love the reflections in the mirror. I'm also thinking how this photo a day project is providing little reflections of my life.
February 22, 2009
Day 53 - Multi-tasking
I spent most of today fine tuning my presentation for the ICE Conference, but as you can see in the background, Plurk is open for some multi-tasking.

Day 52 - Snow
We awoke to 3-4 inches of fresh snow this morning. My husband was eager to clear the driveway......boys & their toys!
February 20, 2009
Day 51 - TGIF
This has been an exhausting week! My husband and I are enjoying a relaxing Friday evening with our favorite adult beverages.
February 19, 2009
Day 50 - Angel
This angel was given to me by a dear friend and hangs on my desktop computer at home to keep it safe and problem free.
February 18, 2009
Day 49 - Computer bag
This is a close up of my Vera Bradley computer bag. My two 3rd grade colleagues gave it to me when I retired last year. It was the perfect gift and I think of them every time I use it. I'm looking forward to seeing them tomorrow at school when I'm there to sub.

Day 48 - F2F
This restaurant, Baker's St. Pub & Grill, is where Mari, Kristin, and I had dinner on my last night in Denver. I was so happy that I got to meet Plurk buddy, @mhobkirk, f2f. We had a wonderful visit!
February 16, 2009
Day 47 - Squirrel
This curious squirrel posed for a picture on the side of a tree as my daughter and I were walking around the lake at Washington Park in Denver.
February 15, 2009
Day 46 - Soup
While staying with my daughter in Denver, we made a big crock pot of soup to take to church tonight. The soup was yummy!

Day 45 - Pedicure

I spent a wonderfully relaxing day with my daughter in Denver today. First she treated us to pedicures at The Aveda Institute. Next we had lunch and an enjoyable walk around downtown Denver. I couldn't resist this photo op outside the Denver Art Museum. Standing by the huge sculpture of the broom and dustpan is my daughter Kristin. After visiting the Denver Public
Library, we stopped at Nova Coffee for lattes to enjoy during our long walk back to her house.

Day 44 - Moving sidewalk
I flew out of O'Hare Airport in Chicago today. My plane was at one of the far gates, so to get there I walked along through the tunnel with the moving sidewalk. They've made it visually pleasing by adding the colorful lights that turn on & off in sequence.

Day 43 - CDs
As I was straightening up our family room today, the CD rack caught my eye. It dawned on me that I haven't played a CD in many months. With so much music on my computer, either in iTunes or by listening to music using Pandora on the internet, I never think to use the CDs anymore.

Day 42 - Tissues
My mom made this tissue box holder. She was an avid needlepointer and made so many things out of plastic canvas. I love having this gift from my mom on my desk. This week, I'm missing her a lot.

Day 41 - Ducks

Day 40 - Apple Store
I had a 1 to 1 appointment at the Apple Store early this morning. I love going early before the store opens for customers. I got a good start on an iMovie project using video from my FlipCam. Then, I headed over to Coldwater Creek to buy a new outfit to wear when presenting at an upcoming tech conference. Great morning!

Day 39 - Recharge
Our battery recharger died, so I bought this new one today. The old one only charged AA batteries. This one also does AAA, which is useful for the TV remote & my Bose headphones. My camera takes AA batteries and they weren't holding a charge. I'm hoping the new charger solves the problem.

Day 37 - Under the sea
This is sometimes how I feel on a Friday night, I just want to go some place alone & quiet! It has been an especially rough week. I used Cameroid.com to take this photo of myself.

Day 36 - Snowmen
I'm officially sick of winter. Even though the groundhog says there will be six more weeks of winter, I gathered all our snowmen decorations from throughout the house so that we can put them away until next year.

Day 35 - Newsletter
As a new retiree, I said 'yes' to taking over the newsletter that goes out to the retirees from our school district. I created the newsletter using the 'Pages' application on my Mac. Today I ran it off, stuffed the envelopes with the 8 page (4 page back-to-back) newsletter, and sent it out to 230+ retirees who wish to stay active in our group. We still send it via snail mail, since some retirees don't have email. I wonder how long it will take before everyone has email.

Day 34 - Fitness Center
This is the entrance to the fitness center I belong to. It is actually called The Wellness Center and is affiliated with the hospital in our town. I started going there last May when I was prescribed physical therapy for my neck. Then hubby & I joined and I try to get over there about 4 times a week. It is a great facility.

Day 33 - 1st grade
I subbed in this first grade classroom this afternoon. They were an energetic group. This is the room after I straightened it up before leaving for the day. Since I retired, I've enjoyed subbing a little bit each week. But, it sure is nice to head home without a bag of school work to do!

Day 32 - Metropolis
This is the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in our community. My husband and I have season tickets to a series of plays performed there. Today, we saw a play called "The Foreigner". It wasn't the best play, but we enjoyed our afternoon out followed by a great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. And, we still made it home for the 2nd half of the Super Bowl!
