In 2009, I was encouraged by my friends to give the 365 photo project a try. I love taking photos, and was excited about participating. The daily posts paint a brief picture of my year and open my eyes to the beauty around me. It is challenging to post a photo daily. I was successful in 2009 and 2010, but fell a few short in 2011. I'll be continuing my quest for daily photos in 2012 and look forward to sharing them here.

Day 273 - Blake!
Blake has become so alert! He looks intently into faces and is beginning to imitate mouth movements. Here he is laying on my lap. Can you tell what he was watching me do?!

Day 271 - Shasta Daisy
When visiting my brother earlier this week, he gave me some shasta daisies to transplant into my garden. I planted about a dozen small plants. I hope to see them growing & blooming next spring.

Day 270 - Happy Anniversary!
Uncle Dick and Aunt Gloria invited us to join them for dinner tonight. They live in Florida and spend their summers in Wisconsin. They are originally from the Chicago area. It was wonderful seeing them and so sweet of them to invite us to dinner, especially since they are celebrating their anniversary today!

Day 268 - Carseat
Scott and I headed over to Mt. Prospect this afternoon to a carseat event. The police were set up in a parking lot checking baby/child carseats for correct installation. They reinstalled ours so that it is safe & secure for Blake.

Day 267 - Perennial
Here's another perennial that I planted this week. Home Depot had perennials on sale, so I bought several new varieties. This is an English Lavender. I look forward to seeing the pretty purple blooms next summer!

Day 266 - Mums
Yesterday I stopped at Home Depot to buy a few fresh plants for fall. So this morning, I did some planting & potting. I love the color of this mum. It adds some nice fall color to our front porch.

Day 265 - Broken
We had a very severe storm zip through last night. It was short, but the winds were mighty. One of our trees fell and broke our neighbors fence. Clean up time today!

Day 264 - Turtle polo
We got to babysit for Blake for a little while this morning while our daughter went for a fitting for a bridesmaid dress. He looks so cute in his big boy polo shirt! He is quite a smiley guy, especially when his grandpa is giggling with him!

Day 263 - Blue Ribbon School
The special education classes I subbed in a lot last year were moved to a different school this year. I'm always sad when special ed classes get shuffled to a new school, often because of space issues. The students and staff seem to be adjusting well to their new school. I was very pleased to see many of the regular ed kids acting as buddies to the special kids!

Day 262 - Purple
I found another native wild flower that blooms during this time of year. I'm guessing it is a Prairie Aster, although these are a bit taller than usual. They are a lovely shade of purple!

Tummy Time!
What a wonderful end to our day! Scott and I spend a few hours with Blake. He is such a happy baby!
Day 261 - Sam
Today was the first day of the new season of Rainbow Time at a local public library. I'm a volunteer aide and this is Sam, one of the therapy dogs. On one Saturday per month, kids with autism come to this program at the library and get to interact with some very patient dogs and their owners. I really enjoy this time with the kids and dogs!

Day 260 - Toys!
I subbed in the Learning Center at school today. During the morning I was watching the garage sale that I could see across the street, so during my lunch hour, I walked over and did some shopping. What a great find for my 'Grandma's Toy Basket'! After wiping them down with some Clorox Wipes, they are a good as new.

Day 259 - Dreary day
I didn't have much opportunity for taking photos today. This is the semi-dreary view out of my hospital window. I was there for about 5 hours, The procedure I had took less than 15 minutes, but I had to stay in the recovery area for several hours. I spend most of the time reading a great book!

Day 258 - ABC Book
I subbed today and got to be in the computer lab with a first grade classroom. They were making a class ABC Book. Each student made a page for the book using a drawing program called Pixie. They were having such fun!

Day 257 - Bike ride
Scott invited me to come along on his bike ride this morning. Although the weather was a bit cool early today, it turned out to be a lovely day for a ride. This 'muddy creek' is near the turn around on a bike trail near our house. We live it a very suburban/residential area, so it is nice to see little bits of natural habitat.

Day 256 - Fall is coming
It was a lovely day for a long walk today, but fall is definitely in the air. This is the bridge/walkway that goes out into the wetlands area in the park near our house.

Day 255 - Guests of Honor!
Cheryl and Blake were the guests of honor today at a luncheon held for them. Her mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law threw a great party for family and friends to welcome Blake to the family. What a lucky little guy he is!

Day 254 - Summer's fading
I know I just posted a similar photo recently, but I had to take this picture today. It struck me how fast summer is fading as I see the tiny bit of sun that Lucy was able to find by the front door. I'm really not ready for the cooler and shorter days!
September 10, 2010
Day 253 - Yellow prairie flower
Many of the native plants in our area are beyond their blooming stage for this season. This yellow prairie flower is one of the few plants still giving off bright color. I'm guessing it is a Goldenrod, but I'm sure my brother will let me know if I'm right or wrong!

Day 252 - New shoes
I spent the day with Blake today. He is one month old! He had his one month check up at the pediatrician and has gained over a pound. In this adorable photo, he is modeling his new shoes that Grandma & Grandpa gave him. What a handsome dude!

Day 251 - Cut flowers
The flowers in our gardens are way past their prime, so I picked up a bunch of cut flowers at the grocery store. My husband had the same idea! So, I combined both bunches into a cheerful bouquet for the vase on the kitchen table.

Day 250 - Begonias
Today was a very windy day! I enjoyed sitting outside at a local park enjoying the sunshine, conversation, and a smoothie! The begonias are especially pretty this time of year.

Day 249 - Grandpa
A visit with Blake today was a highlight of our day. It seems at this age he changes each time we see him. He is so much more alert and loves gazing into people's faces. Here he is happily being adored by Grandpa!

Day 248 - Walk
Today the weather was perfect for a long walk. We took Lucy out to the Forest Preserve. All three of us enjoyed walking and the beautiful weather!

Day 246 - Patriot dessert
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with friends tonight! It was Julie & Bill's turn to host, Patty & John brought appetizers, and we brought dessert. I made these Patriot Trifles. The recipe called for using a large trifle bowl, but I decided to make individual trifles for each person. They were a bit labor intensive, but VERY delicious!

Day 245 - Always hopeful
This is the view of my kitchen from my computer desk. Scott is having a snack, Lucy won't leave his side, always hopeful that a crumb will fall her way!

Day 244 - Mr. Adorable!
Our grandson is 23 days old and very ADORABLE. Today I did some errands for my daughter and then spent the afternoon at her house, doing some housework and spending time with Blake while she was studying for her new certification test. Mr. Adorable is such a good baby! I had a great afternoon!
